AS/NZS 4801

Is the Australian and New Zealand Standard for Work, Health and Safety Management Systems. OHSAS 18001:2007 is an international safety framework used by many organisations. These standards require the main components of Work, Health and Safety to be implemented into a business’s activities that ensure all Work, Health and Safety issues are effectively managed.

These Standards specifiy requirements for a Work, Health and Safety management system to enable an organisation to formulate a policy and objectives that take into account legislative requirements and information about hazards or risks.

It applies to those hazards or risks over which the organisation may exert control and over which it can be expected to have an influence. It does not state specific WHS performance outcomes.
  • These standards can help your organisation to:
  • implement, maintain and improve your Work, Health and Safety;
  • assure yourself of your conformance with your stated WHS policy;
  • demonstrate to others that you conform to your WHS policy
  • seek certification/registration of your  WHSMS by an external organisation; or
  • make a self-determination and declaration of conformance with the Standard.
